Location Access Policy

        Time2Pray uses foreground location only  we never access your location when the app is closed or running in the background.
      

1. Why We Request Location Access

Time2Pray requests access to your device's location for three specific, user-facing purposes:

Feature	How Location Is Used
Nearby Mosque Discovery	Your coordinates are sent to Google Places API to find mosques within your chosen radius
Prayer Time Calculation	Your latitude and longitude are sent to the Aladhan API to compute accurate prayer times for your exact position
Qibla Compass	Your coordinates are used locally on-device to calculate the great-circle bearing to the Kaaba in Mecca (21.4225N, 39.8262E)

2. Location Permission Type

Foreground only (while app is in use). We request ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permissions on Android, and NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription on iOS.

We do not request ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION or "Always On" location access. Your location is only read when you are actively using the App.

3. Compass / Device Motion (Qibla Feature)

The Qibla Compass uses your device's magnetometer (compass sensor) and, on iOS, motion data under the NSMotionUsageDescription permission. This sensor data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. It is used solely to determine which direction your phone is pointing so the Qibla needle can rotate accordingly.

4. What We Do NOT Do With Your Location

We do not store your GPS coordinates on our servers
We do not track your location history or movement patterns
We do not share your location with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics platforms
We do not use your location to serve targeted advertising
We do not infer sensitive attributes (religion, ethnicity, etc.) from your location for any purpose other than delivering the features you requested
We do not access your location when the app is closed or in the background

5. Using the App Without Location Permission

Location access is not required to use the App. If you decline or revoke location permission, you can still:

Search for mosques by postal code or city name using the search bar on the Nearby tab
View prayer times by entering your location manually
Browse the Islamic calendar
Use the Tasbih counter
Manage your mosque representative account

Features that will be unavailable without location permission: automatic nearby mosque detection, GPS-based prayer time calculation, and the live Qibla compass direction.

6. Revoking Location Access

You can revoke location permission at any time:

Android: Settings Apps Time2Pray Permissions Location Deny
iOS: Settings Privacy & Security Location Services Time2Pray Never

After revoking, the app will not access your location until you grant permission again.

7. Third-Party Location Data Recipients

Neither service receives your name, email, or any identifying information alongside your coordinates.
